ASK began as a grass-roots organization by a group of committed volunteers to address a growing social need in their own communities.
While our scope and reach has continually increased over the years, we strive to retain the values and ethos of our founders: compassion, respect, honesty, integrity and accountability to individuals and to the community.

We held 11 cafes over the last seven months, hearing from over 200 individuals, all who are committed to the health and mental wellness of older adults and their caregivers.
High-level results of the Community Cafes and surveys will be presented at the ASK Town Hall on Wednesday May 28 at the Dogwood Centre.
We are excited to announce that ASK is expanding into the Arbutus Centre, a bright and spacious facility located in the new multi-phase Arbutus Development, centrally located at Nanton Ave and Arbutus Street in Vancouver.
"Situated in the dynamic and beautiful neighbourhood of Arbutus Ridge, the Arbutus Centre is envisioned as both an accessible transit-oriented and family-friendly development focused on the quality of life and proximity to neighbourhood emenities."
The Arbutus Centre is managed by the ASK Friendship Society and includes 9,000 square feet of multi-purpose space, including a commercial kitchen. A new Neighbourhood House will be located adjacent to the Arbutus Centre.
We anticipate opening in early 2026.
We will be able to welcome 50 additional older adults to our program and services, providing support for those who are mentally and physically healthy, as well as with cognitive challenges. We will also be providing much-needed services for caregivers.
