Community Cafe Event

ASK's first Community Cafe on Jan 22 hosted 20 enthusiastic and inspired Health Care Professionals, service providers and leaders from the non-profit sector gathered to collectively explore and contribute to a collective intelligence in co-creating future programs and services for adults 65+.

A few themes that emerged:

-Peer to Peer - multi-generational, multi-cultural programs designed and delivered by seniors

-AI/Robot/Technology - integration into daily lives to reduce loneliness and enhance independent living.

-Transportation - physical activities outside in the fresh air, designed by seniors. Walking, cycling, walking yoga!

-School of Aging - love this!

-Food programming

Join the Conversation and register for an upcoming cafe! This is our opportunity, as a community, to ensure that we are responding to the needs of aging adults and their caregivers through out of home day programs that will enhance the quality of life of our seniors.

Community Cafes

The ASK Friendship Society is expanding to a new facility, the Arbutus Centre, located at Nanton and Arbutus Street, in the fall of 2025. Your ideas, feedback and insights are invaluable to us as we start to make plans for the future.

In 2025, we are hosting a series of Community Cafés, each focused on engaging a specific community group.

We are seeking a broad and diverse perspective on future programs and services that ASK might provide for both older adults and caregivers in our new multipurpose 9,000 square foot facility.

Join us as we share insights and discoveries to identify both opportunities and gaps in programming to improve quality of life of older adults, while providing respite to caregivers and families residing in the Arbutus catchment area.

Together we are wiser. Together we enhance the quality of life of older adults. If you're interested in attending a specific Community Café, please reach out to us at

All cafes will be held at the KERRISDALE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 2733 W 41st Ave, Vancouver, V6N 3C5 unless otherwise indicated.
