Community Engagement

The ASK Friendship Society is currently offering Adult Day Programs for older adults managing chronic health challenges and/or who may have difficulty meeting their own social needs. These challenges prevent them from participating in other community programs.

We are excited to announce that we are expanding our programming into a bright and spacious 9,000 square foot facility, The Arbutus Centre, in the new Arbutus Development in late 2025/early 2026. This will provide up to 50 spaces for older adults, for those who are mentally and physically healthy, as well as those with cognitive challenges, and their caregivers.

We are seeking input and feedback from community members as to the types of programs and services that would be of greatest benefit for older adults and their caregivers living within the Arbutus catchment area.

Our community engagement process is comprised of surveys, community cafes as well as larger community information sessions.

Stay connected, get involved, share your thoughts. Together we will create a space where older adults are warmly welcomed to participate in daily, out-of-home programs where they are socially connected, mentally stimulated, and physically motivated while being in a safe and secure environment.

Community Cafes

We are excited to announce that ASK is expanding its services and programs to a new facility at Nanton and Arbutus Street, located on Vancouver's west side. As part of our commitment to supporting older adults and caregivers, we want to hear directly from you!

We’re gathering feedback, ideas, and insights from community groups to better understand the needs of the neighborhood and how ASK can best serve you.

In 2025, we’ll be hosting a series of 6 Community Cafés, each focused on engaging a specific group. Your voice matters, and we look forward to hearing your valuable input.

If you're interested in attending a Community Café, please reach out to us at [email protected]

All cafes will be held at the KERRISDALE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 2733 W 41st Ave, Vancouver, V6N 3C5
